LoanSharks.com is written for people in financial distress, and that includes readers who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology. This statement describes what we do to keep the site accessible, where we still fall short, and how to reach us if something gets in your way. It was last reviewed on September 27, 2026.
Our standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We consider the site partially conformant: most content meets the standard, and the gaps we know about are listed below.
Measures we take
- Meaningful images carry descriptive alt text, including the historical photographs on our research pages. Purely decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
- Every input on our calculators has a visible label, and results update in a way assistive technology can announce.
- Data tables use properly marked header cells so the relationships read correctly.
- Text and interactive elements are checked against WCAG AA color contrast minimums. Our custom styles were last audited in September 2026.
- Pages use a logical heading structure, a skip to content link, and menus that work by keyboard.
- The layout is responsive and supports browser zoom and small screens.
- No autoplaying audio or video, no flashing content, and plain language writing throughout.
Known limitations
- Some navigation landmarks generated by our theme lack descriptive labels. Fixing this requires theme level changes that are on our list.
- A few archival images are reproductions of old documents and photographs. We describe them in alt text, but the originals are sometimes low quality.
- Pages link out to government agencies, nonprofits, and other third parties whose accessibility we do not control.
